Gibasis pellucida (Tradescantia multiflora) Bridal Veil

The Plant: Not the tidiest of plants, the Gibasis or Tradescantia has a mass of spear-shaped leaves which are sea-green on top with a purple underside, with a trailing growth habit, and produces tiny white flowers.

Its Needs: The Bridal veil plant can be grown in strong light or semi-shade at normal room temperature and humidity. A well-draining potting mix is essential.

Care: Water well through the growing season but reduce watering over winter. Cut back old or straggly growth to maintain appearance. If necessary plant can be cut back hard in spring to re-generate. Look out for Mealybugs

Good for: The Gibasis pellucida or Tradescantia is an ideal candidate for growing in a hanging basket, or wall-mounted container, to encourage its trailing growth habit. Easy to grow and maintain. It is ideal as a background plant, rather than a feature.
