How to look after Clivias
Its needs: Shade! Semi-shade or deep shade, no direct sun.
Well-draining potting mix, rich in compost and leaf mould. Enjoys extra
humidity, especially in summer, but does not appreciate extreme heat.
Normally grows besides streams and other damp places in wild.
Care: Water generously through growing season, but reduce this
over winter. Clivias should be allowed to grow unchecked for several
years in large containers before being divided. Prone to mealy bug.
Clivias can be divided in late winter or early spring.-
Good for: A large, stand alone, feature plant in a shady corner.
When flowering, bring into prominent position to appreciate spectacular
flowers. Aptly named ‘Flame of the Forest’.
