Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in
Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape
Architecture, or related field.
- Five years grounds maintenance or related
area which includes supervisory experience.
An equivalent
combination of education and experience will
also be considered.
- Experience with
greenhouse operations;
propagation methods; insect/disease control;
proper nutrition; growth habits and pruning
methods for annual
flowers, interior plants, ornamental tress,
and shrubs.
- Knowledge growth habits,
fertilizers, pesticides,
irrigation, drip irrigation, and equipment
used in turf maintenance and construction.
- Experience with tree
climbing skills, pruning of trees, and
cabling/bracing techniques. Knowledge of
hard surface maintenance and repair.
- Strong written and verbal communication
skills. Required to carry a phone and or
pager
- (Subject to 24-hour
callback for emergencies.)
Responsibilities are to ensure the visible
excellence of the campus grounds. Manage the
administrative and personnel
activities of several crews including
landscape project; turf management; and
street operations, maintenance, and repair.
Supervise service staff which includes
interviewing; selection; training; and
planning, scheduling, and inspecting work.
Provide recommendations for salaries,
promotions, and terminations to Director of
Grounds. Administer work budgets,
approve expenditures to complete job
assignments. Assist in establishing and
recommending organizational policies,
procedures, and goals to carry out functions
of the department. Supervise, plan, and
direct the stewardship and service
operations of several crews. Maintenance and
upkeep of the overall appearance of areas on
central campus and
outlying areas.

I am looking
for a groundskeeper for a B&B and events
center located in Montana. The grounds are
professionally landscaped with a 2 acre pond,
event center and B&B. The ideal candidate
would be hard working and
experienced...familiar w/plants, grasses,
pesticides, and a good knowledge of the
operation and maintenance of gardening
equipment (mowers, trimmers, tractor, tiller,
etc.). Some training will be provided.
No smoking,
drinking or drugs allowed. The chosen employee
would be salaried (between $1,500 and $2k/mo)
and live in a 2 bedroom house, complete
w/stove, oven, fridge., washer & dryer. Up to
4 weeks vacation per year.
